The Man in the Yellow Jersey

What spectator sport would you be watching where all the excitement lasts about 32 seconds? Take a look.

The Tour de France is taking place at numerous locations in France and some adjoining countries. We were in Toul when a stage of this "tour" came through town just feet from our barge. What you see above is what we got to see. Blink and they are gone.

So what gets the crowd out on the streets and roads some 2 hours in advance? The pictures below show the warm up to the race. Small gifts are thrown from floats, cars and trucks.  Nothing of much value, but the passing is to keep you there waiting for the racers.

The leader in the race gets to wear a yellow jersey.  He is near the front of the pack as they round the corner.

Somehow the iPhone goofed on this picture.
